Matra Petroleum the London listed oil and gas company with operations in Russia, announced yesterday that it’s chief executive, Peter Hind has resigned from the Board. Mr Hind’s resignation is effective immediately and comes just a week after Matra’s exploration director Neil Hodgson quit the company.
It’s not one I personally agree with. Hind has been an absolute “workaholic” while in the Matra hot-seat working upwards of 80/100 hours each week. Hind ate, slept, dreamt & lived for Matra. It’s another sad day for our Members to lose yet another Matraman who never gave up the fight on behalf of Private Investors.
It’s testament to Hind’s integrity that he leaves Matra in the hands of Maxim Barskiy. One of the hottest rising stars in the Russian & global oil-sectors. In April, ex-TNK-BP boss Barskiy subscribed for £4.6 million of new equity in Matra and joined the board as a non-executive director. He will now assume the role of chief executive.
I’d like to personally thank Peter Hind for all his efforts & work; he dedicated 6 years of his life to Matra. Men such as Hind & Hodgson are a rarity in the oil & gas industry, genuine honest directors whose integrity is of the highest order. I do hope that both Peter & Neil take up their share-options which I think all our Members agree they thoroughly deserve.
Good Luck for the future.
